Problem deploying: "Not a stateless component"

I'm attempting to deploy a PB11.5 nvo component to EAServer
5.2, and I'm getting the message it is failing to expose
component because my main nvo is "Not a stateless
component". I can't find the slightest documentation on
this, and indeed, it seems to go against what the
instructions say. Also, as far as I can tell my object IS
stateless. Can anyone explain why I'm getting this message?

Can you copy and paste the messages from the deploy output into a
message for the newsgroup?

The message it its entirely is

Web service deployment failed. Exception:WSTAdminExcetion:
com.sybase.wst.admin.WSTAdminExceptionException: Failed to
expose component, Reason: Not a stateless component:
wordmerge/n_easmerge1

"wordmerge" is the package name; "n_easmerge1" is the nvo
name. I'm not sure how much of the package properties you
need to know about, but basically what I have is the
above-mentioned nvo selected as the component to deploy,
with it calling another OLE nvo to do the work along with a
few structures and supporting nvos. It doesn't seem to
matter whether I make the component shared or standard, or
whether I check "automatic demarcation/deactivation". On the
web service tab I have "expose" checked and have selected
web service type "EAServer 5.x", with port 808 and the other
fields left blank. I hope that's sufficient.

Your problem may be that the 11.5 VM is not supported in 5.2. Look at 5.5
instead.

Its did not seem to be supported 100% in 5.5 either in my initial testing.
I could not debug an NVUO for example until I went to EAS 6.2.
Maybe it was just a glitch in my environment.

Sybase states that it is supported. Did you open a case?

Yes it was ... but this was PB beta.
I am not sure what happened to that one officially.

OK. That makes sense. It's been a while since beta. As far as I'm aware,
they fully support 11.5 on 5.5.
