Discussion:
Save to PDF on EA Server Loses Bitmaps
(too old to reply)

PB 10.5 build 6565 EA Server 5.1 build 51016 Windows Server 2003 R2

When I save my datawindows to pdf through my local EA server, the bitmaps on the
datawindows are included in the pdf correctly. However, when I deploy to the
Windows Server and generate the pdfs, they are not in the pdf. What's the
secret?

I have created a pbr and included that in the deploy project, and I've tried
setting up the same folder structure on the server of where the images are
located, but neither has helped

Anyone have any thoughts?

Cory

Cory;

1) Do you have specific path stated for the bitmaps (hopefully not)?
2) Did you try linking the Bitmaps into a PBD (that is what I do)?
3) For the DWO being processed ... does it have in the Data Export tab:
Format = PDF!
Method = Distill!

1) I've tried it both ways with the same result
2) I'm using a pbr file for the bitmaps and its associated with the pbd being
generated for the components
3) Yes, those are the settings in the datawindows

Have you tried this on Windows XP or Vista?
I wonder if this is a W2003 quirk?

My development machine is XP and it works fine

We've installed version 7.05 which I know is fairly old, but its the version
that matches our development environment. My next thought is to try installing
a newer version to see what happens

Hi Cory,

Where I work we use PB 10.2.1 and EAServer 5.5. This same issue of
missing bitmaps happens to us but we have found a work around.

Try this:
Before you deploy your project, open it, go to your Libraries tab and
re-select your resource file under "PowerBuilder Resource File:", then
save your project and deploy it. Bitmaps should appear and this has
worked for us at my client.

For what ever reason we always loose the resource file when ever we
redeploy a project. This has been like this for a few years for us.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

The problem was with the postscript driver that I was using behind the Sybase
DataWindow PS printer - I had to update it to a newer HP printer and the images
started appearing in the PDFs
